The sun will shine, the bands will play. The campers will camp. Hooorah. My diary is gonna be full from here till eternity, or at least t. I’ve got the biggies … Glastonbury, Latitude, Secret Garden party. The freebies … Brighton Live, Brighton Fringe. Plus the slightly square art festivals. Just because it’s not all about getting off your head in a field.

Rule number one: be prepared. Tents, wellies and drugs.
Rule number two: don’t over prepare. That ruins the surprise.

Festival

Voodoo

The Voodoo festival of Luciferin arts will be taking place on the level this weekend.

There will be workshops and fun for all of the family.

Events include - doll making, spell casting, general devilry

The entrance is free but it is a ticket only event.

I asked the organisers about the fact that the Voodoo event was taking place so close to St Peter’s church - they said ‘yeah whatever’

So I spoke to the Priest who said something similar.

It would appear that nobody is taking the resurgence of vodoo and the dark arts as seriously as I am!

The Voodoo festival is sponsored by voodoo knife block and there will also be a demonstration of cucumber chopping!

The organiser told me that it was easy to get third party indemnity against any actual spells working because nobody believes that they actually work!

Brighton has long been the southern centre of voodoo magic - ever since a Haitian fishing vessel was blown of course in a storm and the sailors hid out for more than a decade just west of Carrot’s cafe in Shoreham. It has been suggested that they only survived because of the dark arts and left-over chips.

Brighton Fringe

So, when a fringe festival actually a festival and the real festival actually the fringy bit?

The answer to this and other questions can be found somewhere.

Not, sure where but keep looking. Maybe fringes are just cool? Is it a class thing? Is it a youth thing?

The brighton fringe is the biggest fringe tht isn’t the edinburgh fringe. Fancy that eh?

At least a squillion people come down to brighton to experience the fringe. Many local businesses do a bit of band waggon jumping. Art galleries do fringe exhibitions.

The only people not to capitalise are the hairdressers. They are surely missing a trick here. Brighton fringe related hairstyles will surely be popular. Come on salons, get involved. It’s all about participation. Life is not a rehersal.

Brighton Loop Festival

music and digital media festival in brighton in the park.

get me a ticket.

oooh yeah.

Never mind eh?
